Hippie at Heart

When it comes to fashion, I have always kind of been a hippie. Give me some flares, a baggy tee, some long necklaces, and you have my go-to outfit.

Now when I found this baggy short-sleeved sweater I liked it, but then I saw the lace detail on the shoulders and I HAD to have it. If you haven't noticed by now, I have a slight lace fetish. I think it is because when Matt met me he says I dressed like a boy {I was the snowboard chick who hardly showered...eek}, so now I guess I am making up for it by wearing really girly things, like lace :) If only I had known then that I could still snowboard but look nice and shower, I might have had more dates, lol. Good thing my man saw past that :)

Speaking of my man, he gave me a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday, where he did basically everything around the house and with Link. He is pretty flipping awesome :) Thanks baby!

{Thrifty Thursday} Share Your Treasure!!

I love when I have treasures to share as well!! I found this beauty while thrifting, and I have to say, it reminds me of Pretty Woman. She never wears a jacket like this, but the style and color screams Julia Roberts in that movie :) LOVE it! {The jacket and the movie}

Get it HERE

Now let's see your treasures!!

And please make sure to add the thrifty chica button so that your uploads are not deleted! Thanks so much! And lets beat last weeks record of 8!!

Blue Pants

I found these great pants while thrifting with a bestie this week. I was pretty excited about them :) Then, I got a sweet package in the mail from my mom and this shirt combo was in it, with lots of other yummy treats and my Easter dress. She is so sweet, because even though I have been married for almost 5 years, she still always buys me an Easter dress, along with my 4 other sisters. I have such an awesome mom :)

{pants: thrifted F21, shirt and cardigan: Gift from mom, necklace: thrifted, shoes: Ross}

Now don't worry, I still have a lot of really good pics from the photo shoot, but I have to throw in some other pics so we don't get too spoiled with the quality :) Matt is a wonderful father and husband and student and most everything....besides a photographer :) But he is sweet enough to take the pics and that's all I can ask for, lol.

Tips On Wearing Wide Leg Pants

Oh man, I am getting spoiled with all these pics I can use from my photo shoot. Then I will have to go back to my normal {may we say, sometimes awful} pictures. Ah well, maybe the Fife's will take more fabulous ones sometime soon. Until then...

{pants, vintage shirt and shoes: thrifted. Necklace: $1 Jewelry}

A few tips on the wide leg pants:

  • Make sure they touch the ground when you are wearing heels. In fact, it is even better if you can't see the shoe at all.
  • ALWAYS {well, almost always} they should be worn with heels. The purpose of the wide leg, high-waisted pants is to make your legs look super long, and that is only accomplished when you wear heels that nearly don't show, because then it looks like your legs are just really that long all on their own.
  • The look best on everyone if they are snug up top (from waist to the top of your thigh, not the whole thigh, those are flares).
  • Tuck in your shirts with high-waisted pants, that will also add length to your legs.
Most importantly? Have fun, because fashion should be fun and just another expression of yourself :)

Have a wonderful Tuesday!!

Floral Print Tip

We are still working from Fife Photography pictures obviously :) The top pic is one of my favorites.

{skirt: made it, shoes: Ross, cropped shirt: thrifted, purse: thrifted, belt: thrifted}

So here's your floral tip of the day: Go for BIG and BOLD prints. Florals should be fun and girly!

Also, don't be afraid to add that floral with another print. In fact, I advise you to do so the next time you where a floral print. You can't tell very well, but the shirt I am wearing is a silky floral patterned top as well. So looks like you can even add floral to floral.

So have fun with your next floral, I know I will :)

The Secret to Great Modest Shorts

Ok, number one: Fife Photography made me look AMAZING in these pics. I swear I am not actually this pretty. If you are looking for pics that make you look super great, and people to take them that are super fun and wonderful to work with, you really should check them out (they travel!): Fife Photography

Number two: THANKS!!!! to everyone that posted on Thrifted Thursday!! We had 8, EIGHT!! I just get so excited when lots of people post because I love to see deals that people get. It is exhilarating {ok, now you know I am a super thrifting nerd}.

Number three: .....well....there was really just those two. On to the outfit post :)

As always, below there are is a selection of things similar to what I am wearing. Usually they are too expensive for my tastes, but it gives you an idea of things you can look for while you are thrifting. Also, because it will be difficult/expensive to find high-waisted shorts that are long enough, try buying some vintage pleated/high-waisted pants from the thrift store and just sewing them into shorts. It is super easy, just chop a little long than desired length, fold it up and sew along the side seam and now you have a nice pair of shorts :)
