Gamer

If you wanted to know a little secret about me, I'm a gamer. And last night, Matt and I and our friends played this silly game on the Wii called Dokapon. It is such a simple electronic board game that goes on forever and we have been playing it now for a year. Who knows if we will ever finish it, but with all the trash talk, the back-biting, the curse-sending, and with snacks like cheese fries and Sonic diet coke, who really cares? :)

{Pants, belt and vintage shirt: thrifted, shoes, Ross, bracelets: made it}

Of course, then it means we probably stayed up way too late playing it. But totally worth it :)

Summer Sunday

I just love summertime. I can handle heat a lot better than I can the cold {Course in a couple of weeks when it is over 100 degrees, I might take that back}. For now, it is a just a breezy 90 degree, sunny day, and a good one to enjoy with my fam :)

 {Shoes, skirt and belt: thrifted, Shirt: Express, necklace: made it, glasses: F21}

I just love my "grandma" glasses :) So perfect for this sunny day.

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Crop it! {Cropped shirt style}

I love to add some layers and depth to an outfit. That's why this "cropped shirt" trend is so awesome :) I got this cropped shirt for $3 at Aeropostale and threw it over a baggy spaghetti strap shirt. You see how this is just another modest way to make use of spaghetti strapped shirts :) Not to mention, just uber cute!

{not sure about this pic, but for some reason we only got 2, so here it is}

I was wearing my straw fedora with this outfit later on. I think it actually looked better that way, I just didn't end up getting more pictures after it was on. But here is a style board of a cute cropped shirt outfit:

Cute right?

Now here's where to get these lovelies:

With everything else, let's just do an outfit today

I know it is usually Thrifty Thursday, and for those who post something every week, you should know you totally make my day! I start getting giddy when people post, and hubby just looks at me like, "crazy says what?". So to all you who post, let's be friends forever, and I will have a link-up next week, I promise :)

So here's an outfit post instead :) I usually don't wear black in spring time, but {when I look this good! :)} I decided it was appropriate for a night out on the town with hubby. We went and saw Pirates which was great. I just love these cuff pants. There an easy fix to any outfit to help me feel more fashionable that day.

{shirt: Walmart, jacket: JC Penney, pants: altered thrifted}

Gosh I love to snuggle this man :)

When he gives kisses he say "mmmm bah!" {"bah" is when his cute little pucker meets mine}

So life back to normal after crazy tornado. Man this town is nuts. It's like nothing even happened. I guess that's how they can tell that I'm not from around tornado ville, because of my serious meltdown during said tornado :)

Our Tornado Scare

For those of you who are aware that we live in Norman, OK, you might have heard that a tornado touched down here. We are all doing ok, and our house is just fine. It really was a miracle that it all turned out ok.

We were at our friends house waiting to see if they were going to issue a tornado warning, and when they did we were ready to rush to the weather center for shelter. However, my best friends brother (David) who is paraplegic after being shot in the head, was still at his mother's home (with mom and two nieces) with no where to go. So my husband and best friend's husband, Stdrov, drove as fast as they could to help load him up and bring them all the weather shelter.

Because they left so late, however, by the time they got to David's house to pick them up, the tornado sirens were already going off and large hail stones were falling. They thought about going to the hospital thinking it would be closer, but their radar app (that Stdrov developed), showed that a tornado was in a direct line to there as well, so they chanced it (with no where to run) to make it to the weather center where we were all waiting for them.

Now, during this time, we were in the weather center waiting by the doors for our husbands to make it back, when the weather got worse with rain, hail, and severe winds. To make matters worse, the security inside told us that we needed to head underground because the tornado was headed straight for us and it would be here in 2 minutes.

We had no idea where Matt and Stdrov were with David and at that point I just broke down crying because they were not safe out there. Luckily I had Shawna there to console me, and then we saw there car pull up, so we rushed outside to get everyone in and help with David's stuff.

Thinking that we made it in time we all made it safely inside. Only later did we find out that the tornado had lifted at that moment, and for that reason, we were all ok.

Only divine intervention could have saved us then because the tornado that was headed for us was an F4/F5 tornado that had already leveled the town of Goldsby. We are so very fortunate, and I am so thankful for that blessing.

So, once again, thanks Heavenly Father. I don't know what I would do without my Matti {but you must have known that, cause you saved him :) }

Now I am just still trying to wind down from it all, and I think I have had enough excitement for a lifetime :)

This is the tornado that was headed straight toward the Weather Center:

Best Friend

Let me tell you a little about my best friend Manda (actually Amanda, but I call her Manda). We have been best friends since we were 5, and we met at my mom's annual Easter party. Actually, when we first met, I thought she was mean, and she thought I was weird :) But for some reason we gave each other another chance. We lived right across the street from each other in Sugar House, UT, and then even when our families moved away we made our parents drive us almost every weekend for a sleepover (I'm sure they were so happy when we could finally drive ourselves since it was an hour each way).

So, why am I telling you about my best friend Manda? Well, she is getting married in 2 weeks, and I am really excited for her! And, also because last Saturday she proved, yet again, to be an amazing friend when she sent me the most marvelous package. When I opened it up, it was a tea cup, yummy cookies, an awesomely HUGE hat, and an invitation to join them, via skype, for her tea party bridal shower :) She knew how sad I am when I miss big things because I live so far away, and so she figured out a way to have me there! She is amazing. I might have cried when I got the package....maybe...ok, I'm a huge baby, and I totally cried. Then Matt laughed at me and gave me a hug :)

So, here are pictures from the "party". I dressed up like I would if I was there, and got to wear the great hat she sent (they all had one, and Manda had one with a pear on it :).

{isn't that the cutest little tea cup and saucer?}

{I dressed little man up too, in his little stud tux}

{Here I am, at the party :) It was super fun, and I'm so glad I got to be there}

And while I am reminiscing on all the fun times i've had with Manda, you might just get a couple of posts about crazy times we have had :)

{Trends} Geometric Patterns

I have noticed a large shift toward bold geometric patterns with the upcoming fashions. From shirts, to dresses, to jewelry. It all seems to be just a little bolder and brighter than before. But don't start getting worried that the 80's are coming back, because we are NOT talking neon bright.

That's the beauty of the styles the last couple of years. They have been taking the best from different era's and then combing them all into great walking art.

Here is an example of an outfit fit for spring, with a geometric pattern dress:

And if that is not enough to get you excited about geometric shapes here are some examples of GREAT ideas:

Tops:

Dresses:

Skirts:

And for those who might want to start out with just a little flavor of BOLD, jewelry:

So when you are out looking around, or better yet, thrifting, keep an eye out for great geometric patterned pieces. You won't regret it :) And if it has a great pattern, but the shape is a little sketchy: grab it, send in a pic, and I will make a great DIY to spice it up!

More of My Favorite Things

Here are a few more of my favorite things!:

Christian Louboutin at ShopStyle
LOVE these shoes. The ruffles, the buckle detail, the color. All of it!

Anthropologie at ShopStyle
Ok, by now we all know that I have an obsession with ruffles. Don't you just love this ruffle hoodie? The ruffles are just high, and small, enough that they don't add width to your hips. Well done, once again, Anthropologie.

undefined
I love any type of pant that has some flavor. Whether it's a bright color, or a unique design, like these ones. Perfect for summer, modest, and just a little bit different which is perfect.

RVCA at ShopStyle
I always need a go-to button up shirt, and this one is great for summer, with it's thin fabric and subtle floral design.

Just a couple more things that I love :) Hope you enjoy!

Thorish

I got to see Thor today :) Matt took me on a date to see it, and I think he was a little jealous of his muscles because he kept pulling the line from the paintball episode of Community "I got a good look at him, and he isn't that good looking." That's alright, because I am always jealous of how great Natalie Portman looks in everthing, so I guess that makes us even :)

{ Shirt: Walmart, Shorts: Maurices, belt: thrifted, shoes: Ross, ugly hair: courtesy of myself/wind}

Thanks for visiting! I have to go get a bunch of stuff done since it is Monday and that is my work, work, work day :)

Whale of a Tale

This picture was taken on girls day out this week. I had so much fun with ma ladies, and it will be super awesome when we are all in the same place this summer :)

 {Pants and shoes: thrifted, shirt: Hint of Vintage}

First, I love tees that are cute, and girly {blue ruffle and floral whale=girly}. Second, I LOVE these sunglasses that I found at F21. Matt told me they looked like grandma glasses, and I am wondering when he will realize that anytime he says something looks like his grandma's, it is a compliment :) Ah well, we have forever for him to learn these things.

{DIY} Side Bow/Ruffle, Thanks to Kristina J

Isn't this AMAZING?! Yeah, she came up with it after fawning over an Anthropology shirt. Who am I talking about? The one and only Kristina J. I love to read her blog, and right now she is talking about color scheming your wardrobe if you are interested :)

Ok, so I had thrifted a dress that I wanted to alter, but it has just been sitting around while I had been trying to figure out what to do with it. Then I saw this great DIY and, well, here's the result:

Now to simplify the DIY that Kristina J posted, I must tell you that she folds over every piece, except for one of the 6 x 6 pieces. And technically, it might not have even been that one, but that is the one I chose.

And, also, I was intimidated by this project because she didn't tell me EXACTLY where to put each piece, but if you follow this rule...The bow goes on top!...it really isn't too hard. In fact, you might not even use all the pieces if you don't want the ruffle to crawl down so far. Just place the bow with the seam matching the shoulder seam of the dress, and then start putting ruffle by ruffle. Don't like it? start over. Then, when it looks how you want it, pin it in place and sew them like she says.

Alright! Hope you have as much fun as I did making this dress for Hint of Vintage!
