A Vacation, Not So Relaxing

I have been looking back over this vacation, now that it is coming to a close, and I have decided it hasn't been what I would call relaxing. Full of fun, exciting times, and family yes, but relaxing not so much. I think it kind of has to be that way so that Matt and I are ready to go home, because I usually start to get a little emotional about it around this time so I should be grateful, which I am.

Tomorrow I get to play with my Amanda hopefully, but other than that, I am just going to sit and read. Sit, while the grandparents play with Link until their hearts content, and just immerse myself in "The Lost Symbol". Yeah, I think that is what I will do to try and savor just one relaxing day here on vacation :)

Of course I have to show off my fabulous thrifty treasures (my purse and shoes) that I have found while I have been on vacation. My dress I will have to wait to show you until next week when I have had time to modernize it :) Alrighty, I just got done with my transcription work, finished this blog post, and now I think it is time for me to start that relaxing early. Good night :)

What A Scare Matti

Sorry folks that this post was so late, but today was quite the day. It started last night when Matt had serious abdominal pain, then this morning it was worse so his dad took him to the doctor. They did a pushing test to check for appendicitis but there was no pain so they gave him a CT just to make sure. Turns out he DID have appendicitis, but just that it grew sideways so the normal palpable test did not work. He had to get it taken out today, which was a big scare for him because he hates to be put under with anesthesia.

It didn't really hit me until after he went in for surgery how scary surgery is, no matter how noninvasive the surgery is. It sure made me appreciate him just a little bit more.

The funny thing is, that the part that made me the saddest was thinking that I would never get to tell Matt that they found a third nipple and that they had to remove it. Yes, you read right :) We always thought it was a skin flap and we called it his twin and it hung of his hip (just a wee little guy). Matt might just kill me for telling you this, but it made my night.

Funny how this is thing that made me the saddest, but that is mine and Matt's little thing, our inside joke, and it made me sad to think I wouldn't be able to share it with him as dumb as that sounds.

Luckily, he made it through and so I will carry on and show you my treasures from yesterday's thrifting excursion.

First, and most favorite, this amazing dress! Don't judge it quite yet, I have to make some alterations, but I am so excited to show you (on myself) after the changes have been made :)

I LOVE the fabric/pattern, and the buttons and lace collar just add to the deliciousness of it all. Oh man, I can't wait to go home and fix this!!

The second thing I found, was not for me, but an adorable vest for my little man. He looks so stinkin cute in it I had to show you pics. 

And Last but not least, these awesome shoes :) Followed by my outfit where I show them off just a little bit more. 

Super easy, I just threw on one of Matt's sweaters, a long dangly necklace, my pair of boyfriend distressed jeans, and my fab thrifted shoes. Voila, comfy and chic.

A Thrifting Day Is My Favorite Day

Today I get to go thrifting. Matt's mom and I both love it so we are going to go explore today. It is always better in smaller towns (like where they live) because lots of older people drop of their delicious retro clothes (just have to wash them because they smell like a grandma), and their vintage attire is usually left untouched because most can't/don't see their potential. Hence why I am so uber excited to go.

Yeah, don't I just look comfy? That was the idea. I was not feeling so hot yesterday when I took these pictures so I chose to take them sitting down in a chair. Good thing I took some witch-doctor Nutribiotic and felt better for my date last night with Matti. We went and saw True Grit. Iiii'm still not sure I liked it. I am not really into revenge stories, or fingers getting cut off, or watching someone get a bullet through the front of their face. Call me crazy! I think I am too sensitive to movies because I can't separate that they are MOVIES, not real life, and I get emotionally infested in them very easy. This isn't to say I am a movie sissy, The Dark Knight is my very favorite movie of all time and let's be honest, the Joker is a seriously scary nutcase (which is why he was so fun to watch). 

Alright, I am off to thrift! If I find anything awesome I will be sure to post/wear it tomorrow :)

{My Man Mondays} The Cardigan

While visiting with Matt's family over the Christmas break, my fashion blog came up, and I was asked the intriguing question "Do you ever do men's outfits?". I answered no, but that was an avenue I wouldn't mind trying. Then we got into the topic of what it is now. Of course I had to throw out the cardigan (my obsession now continues to men's fashion). His wife laughed and said "Mr. Rogers cardigans?".....mmm, actually yes :)

Because of this intriguing conversation I have decided to start My Man Mondays, because lets be honest women (or most of us), we dress our men (or maybe should. Now every Monday you will have some inspiration on the side of men's fashion.

Here are a few examples of some cardigans that work for men these days. If you can't tell, there really is not a limited supply of designs that work. These are dressier ways to wear a cardigan. You can throw the cardigan over a button-up like in the left upper picture, and then roll the sleeves. Rolling the sleeves up is the important part of the outfit to make it less Mr. Rogers and more "up-to-date". 

Here is the more casual way to wear the cardigan; just throw it over a tee (v-neck or round), and put on a pair of jeans. Comfy and warm with this chilly winter and add a cardigan with a fun (masculine) color like mustard yellow for the spring season. 

I just liked this in-between classy and comfortable look with the tee underneath, but paired with khakis to make it slightly dressier for a date. 

Ok, ladies, this is just our first day. Get ready to dress that man up. And Mike, here is your how-to to wear that cardigan that you wanted to buy, without looking like Mr. Rogers :)

Big Ol' Smiles

Right now my sweet little boy is talking jibberish to me and smiling big. It is, when this happens, hard to write because I am so preoccupied by his sweet and loving smile (also, he keeps trying to type you messages of his own). This post will be short because Sunday day is Family day, and my boy needs a great big kiss (both of them!).

Beware, Lots of Pictures!

I am watching the Fiesta bowl and it is closer than I would like, but I do not want to fail you so I will continue to do this post. I am just warning you now so if it seems scatterbrained you know why :)

We had an amazing time on vacation at the cabin, and I was able to get a ton of winter sports in while we were there. Thanks Aunt Benette and Uncle Rob for letting us use your toys!

This is us on the way up. The weather was terrible, but we were determined to go so it took a REALLY long time to get up there, hence the rubbing eyes, and awesome face. 

My little man is just so cute when he is sleeping. I super love him. 

Once we finally got there we (ok, the muscular boys) had to shovel out a spot for our cars. 

Then we got a ride up in Uncle Rob's snowcat. It was actually really fun, and whenever we hit a bump Link would start laughing. 

This picture is a bit of a leap, but we went sledding the next day, and this is my sister Marrie in her "delicious" longjohns. (if you have not already, you should check out "The Delicious" on youtube to see why we think this outfit is HILARIOUS).

Sledding! Recognize the beautiful purple suit? Yeah, I only had to wear it for a little while because my Aunt Benette gave me hers since the purple suit only went to my calf and let snow pour into my boots until my poor little toes wanted to fall off. 

Link was smiling like crazy when he went down the hill, which is funny because we were barely moving :)

He got this awesome tube from Aunt Benette. He wasn't quite sure about it, if you couldn't tell by his face. 

This boy-looking person is me. That's the best part about being married. I don't have to look cute in the snow, I just get to be super warm, which I was. At this point we found a huge/steep hill which was pretty intense...a.k.a. I LOVED it. 

This is my brother-in-law going off a jump. He just looked really cool so I thought I would show off his special snowboarding skills. 

If I look tired it's because I absolutely am. Going down the hill, SUPER fun. Going up, SUPER tiring...but worth it :)

The girl's made watches one night which rocked because I love to do crafts. Maybe you caught on to that already.

Yes, my outfit changed again. I just can't wear wet snow gear...it smells like dirty damp socks.

There you go. Nothing fashion wise (unless you count my watch picture, which I will). I had a great vacation, and it was nice to spend time with family while we are out here, and just play loads of games (we play "Bang" which is pretty great).
