Home!!

Recognize the background? Yep, bet you missed the same old backyard in every picture. Well lucky for you I am back home and you will get to see lots....and lots...and...well, let's just say my photographer is free as long as he doesn't have to go anywhere else :)

{shorts: made them, shirt: target, shoes: thrifted}

This is my happy face, because I am so excited to be with my man again. 3 weeks was way too long to be away from him, even though it did seem to go by really fast with all the fun activities at my parent's house. Lucky I get to see them again in a couple of weeks for the wedding, but this time Matti gets to come too so I won't have to be missing him :) Happy Friday everyone!!

{Thrifty Thursday} Share Your Treasure!!

I have to say, I was a little jealous of this Thrifty treasure that Fern and Dandy shared last Thursday. Isn't that the BEST blazer ever? Yeah, gray and beige might be my favorite right now. They are much softer than the harsh black :)

So, now it is time to share your treasures again!

Remember to put the "Thrifty Chica button on the SIDE SCROLL of your blog so that your image is not deleted!

Picnic type days

I love really nice, sunny but cool days. The kind I can only find here in Utah, because Oklahoma does NOT get this cool during the summer :)  (but you can't beat the warm winters, that's for sure!).

And, apparently, I also love wearing blue shirts with these pants, because I think this is about the hundredth time I have paired a blue shirt with these pants. Aw well, when you find something that works, go with it!

{shirt: Walmart, Pants: thrifted F21, shoes: Hancock's, cami: F21, purse: thrifted}

I apparently also love swinging with Link, much more than he likes it :)

Saturday Project

Out of the kindness of my heart...ok, out of sheer excitement, I bring you CUFF SHORTS! You know, like the cuff pants we made, only now they are shorts? mmmm, so wonderful :)

So here is what they look like:

{shoes and cami: F21, shorts: made them, shirt: thrifted, wallet: gift}

So, basically, you just follow the cuff pant tutorial HERE. The only difference is, it is best to do this with a linen pant, or one that looks similar, and it is best if it falls right about 1 inch above the knee to 2 inches.

You might need to take in the pant a little bit at the top because linen pants are usually made to be baggy, and if you need to, you just take a couple of inches off by sewing along the inside seam.

And then for a fun measure, I am going to dye mine red when I get home from vacation :)

Also, you may have noticed this little wallet I was posing with. That's because my awesome sister didn't want it, and so now it is mine all mine! She saw the floral print and thought of me :) I just love sisters

Thrifty Thursday

Oops! Put this on late! So I will have it open tomorrow too :) Sorry guys! Vacation is really messing with me!

So you guys voted, and it was tied, so I picked my favorite of the two. I had to pick the fierce skirt because I wish I could look this great in Zebra print :)

Before you add your pictures, make sure you add the thrifty Chica button to your SIDE SCROLL so it doesn't get deleted!

Now let's see those treasures!!!

Slacker

Since being on vacation means a limited amount of clothing options, it seems I have run out of my creative options, and so instead of making you see just a mediocre outfit, I think I will just post one of my FAVORITES posts today :)

First:

Paul & Joe at ShopStyle

The first modest romper that I would actually wear! I have to say I was very excited when I found this and have been thinking of all the wonderful ideas I could do with it, and here is one:

Man, I just love shopstyle :) When I run out of clothes, I just pretend with these ones :)

Refashions and Floral Treats

I knew there were some lovely vintage treats downstairs in the dress up box, including some of my mom's old clothes, so I took a little trip down there and found this amazing dress. The waist line was a little low for the look of the dress, so I modernized it by taking up the waist line in the middle and then a little less on the sides to give it an a-line cut, kind of like the cropped shirts that have started...bear with me..."cropping" up. hardy har har.

{dress: vintage, shoes: F21}

I loved the flowy fabric, and the lace detail around the neck line, and just knew I had to make it work, and so yesterday morning I started sewing it at 7 am before we had to leave at 7:30 to practice a song for sacrament, and my sister came down "I thought I heard the sewing machine, but I thought, who the heck would be sewing this early in the morning."....um, me? Yeah, it was me. And finished it with just enough time to practice the song, get dressed and head to church. That is some speed sewing if you ask me.

And last but not least, my new FLORAL shoes!! My mom just about barfed when she saw them, which is a good sign that they are AWESOME. :) We have very different tastes, although, the dress I refashioned was once hers so maybe we are just a few decades apart :)

Catching Fire

So, I had to pose today with my book, because I have pretty much been reading non-stop for the last 2 days trying to finish it before I leave Utah. Have you guys read the Hunger Games series? Don't give anything away, but can I just say they are awesome? I started reading the 1st one a long time ago, but didn't have money to get the 2nd and 3rd. Lucky for me my sister did, and so that is why I am in a race to finish them before I leave.

{shirt: forever young, pants: thrifted, glasses: F21, shoes: Hancock's}

The next fun thing? Is that I got this shirt for only 6 dollars because there was a small rip in the back. SUCKERS! Totally sewed it up in no time at all :)

Alright, I am off to jump on the tramp with the little man. He keeps saying "I say pease" aka "I said please!" because he has been at the door saying please and I didn't go out with him, so then he was letting me know he already said it, and it basically melts
 my heart.

Have a wonderful Friday, all!!

What to do with skirt that's too big....

I have this wonderful skirt that I thrifted right after I had Link, without thinking about the fact that I would hopefully be losing that baby belly. So then, my perfect fitting skirt, was no longer so perfect after I lost that weight. I could still wear it at my hips, but I love it's shape when I wear it higher up, so what did I do?....

I pulled the two sides together in the back and sewed them like that. Now it is small enough to wear at my waist, and looks even cuter than it did before in the back. It was such an easy fix that I literally did it on my way out the door. So now you have one more easy fix without just sewing up both sides to make it smaller.

Happy altering!

Wedding

Manda's wedding this weekend was WONDERFUL!! It was so beautiful and classic, and she looked both beautiful and classic herself. I got a little nervous walking up the steps before her because they were cobblestone and I was in heels, but all worked out well :) And I may have cried a little watching her and Kody say their "I Do's" because Kody is just so wonderful for her. I could never have picked out more of a perfect match for her then Kody. Hopefully later I will have some pics from the wedding, but I will have to track them down from other people because I was talkin and dancin the whole time so I wasn't able to snap some myself.

{jacket, shirt, pants, belt: thrifted, shoes: Ross}

I had such a blast helping get everything ready for the wedding, and especially hanging out with her little sister Sam {practically my sister as well since I have known Manda since we were 5. Sam shares my affinity for Vintage and Anthropologie, plus she laughs at my wacky jokes, so we had a really fun time together. Plus, she saw my Etsy site and asked if I would make all her clothes, and if you knew how stylish she was, you would know what an amazing compliment that was to me :)

What a fun vacation this has been! I just miss my sweet hubby at home. Love you baby

Bachelorette Party

So, my best friend Manda is getting married tomorrow and so we had her bachelorette party yesterday night and I had a GREAT time :) She seemed to really enjoy it too, so I'm really happy about that. We (her sis Sam and me) decorated with cute pink ribbon and underwear, and she got some scandalous presents, along with a slumber party and hot tubbing. All in all, practically the perfect party :)

{Dress and shirt: Ross, glasses: F21}

Maybe I will post some great pics of Manda's wedding tomorrow! It will be wonderful and classy, just like her :)

Have a wonderful Friday!

A Lace Vest! Why didn't I think of that?!

When Matt and I were at Olive Garden {we can only afford the soup, salad and breadsticks, so don't think I'm cool or anything}, there was a girl there who had the most amazing vest EVER! It was lace, and it got me thinking what a great addition this would be to any outfit to give it more dimension. And if you have been following for a while, you know very well that I have an obsession with lace. So here is what it looked like:

undefined

Love it?! mmm, I think this is DEFINITELY on my shopping list {which means: someone please drop it off at your nearest thrift store, please}.

And p.s. the reason this post was so late in the day? Because my husband has been seriously geeking out today watching E3 to scope out any new info on Zelda. Now don't get me wrong, I love Zelda as much as the next gamer nerd, but come on my dear Matti, you had the computer for 8 hours today. sigh...good thing I love nerds :)

Blue on Blue

First, I need to say thanks to all you wonderful people who have left sweet comments on the last post. That article was super exciting for me, and I keep teasing Matt {who has published his research in a psychology journal} that I am now "published" as well :) I wouldn't go that far, but it definitely is super exciting :)

{pants, shirt, shoes: thrifted, necklace: made it, here's the link to make one yourself!}

{Yeah, it's windy, why do you ask? :)}

I feel like the easiest trick to color blocking is just throwing a bunch of the same color, but different shades, together. You can even have more fun with it if you layer more than I did here, or throw in a patterned jacket of the same color. So many possibilities :) Isn't fashion fun?!

The Article is Out!!!

Here it is! The article is out and I am SOOO excited :) If you want to check it out, here is a link for the whole magazine online!

And can I just say, thanks to all those who leave sweet comments on here and facebook, because you have no idea how many times I have thought "well, no one would care if I stopped writing" and then I magically get an amazing comment that gives me the little boost I need to keep going. You all are awesome, so THANK YOU to all those who read this blog :)

{Thrifty Thursday} Share Your Treasure!!

Hello everyone!!

Sorry this was so late, so I am leaving the link open until tomorrow at midnight to make up for it :) So that leaves plenty of time to add some awesome thrifty treasures!

I was up playing Halo 3 with my graduating Young Women, and I may or may not have stayed up until 4 a.m. so that I could cream them! {I am slightly competitive....} so I am a little on the slow side today :)

So let's see those treasures!!

And remember to add the thrifty chica button to your blog's SIDE SCROLL section :)
