Particularly Lazy Today

I am feeling quite lazy today, as you might have gathered from the post title, and so my handsome little boy offered to have pictures of his outfit taken today. I thanked him for his thoughtfulness and took him up on his offer. Don't worry, there are pictures of my outfit....aka my pajamas....but seriously. I told you I was being lazy today.

(I like to call this picture "The Stand Off". It is a common scene in this house: Link chasing Ike and Ike always ready to dart the other way at a moments notice so as to avoid childlike torture (I can't say I blame him). 

(oh see, I told you that you would get a full shot, but I didn't tell you it would be pretty. I am fully equipped for a lazy Friday from messy head to stocking feet)

It is a really pretty day today, especially after the crazy wind yesterday. I love Oklahoma. The sun shines here practically ALL year long, and I am perfectly comfortable in my sweatshirt outside. Yeah it is pretty wonderful. I don't even mind that since we have lived here we have had: the worst hail storm every (softball sized hail going through roofs), a freak blizzard, 2 tornadoes, a flood, and an earthquake. Those things just make it exciting. Yeah, the sun means that much to me that I wouldn't trade all that for a gray winter. 

Thanks Oklahoma for keeping our lives interesting while we are here :) 

{Thrifty Thursday} Floral Dress

Do you remember when I posted THIS dress after my thrifting day out? You may have been thinking that in lacked in potential, or maybe you saw what a treasure it was. For those of you who didn't quite see the potential and might have referred to it as "the polygamist wife dress", as Matt so kindly put it, I have pictures to show you it did not end up that way. Matt even went so far as to say, "I never second guess you anymore, even when you bring home ugly dresses, because you could make a paper bag look good....Derilict!". I have to also say that he seemed very impressed with himself for that Zoolander reference.

As you might have already noticed, some of these pictures have POOR lighting. That would be because Matt took excellent pictures, and then my camera decided to be poop again, and they got messed up in the downloading process. 

I didn't so much care about pictures I could take again, but in this bunch were pictures of Link's 1st haircut. Baaaah, one day I will have a fabulous camera and fabulous computer so poop like this doesn't happen again...poop...ok, I feel a little better now. 

Good news? I have some super duper fun shoes I thrifted two days ago with Shawna, I will show you next Thursday :) Be excited

Tall Socks

I have to say that I was a little skeptical of the tall socks with boots look, but I after having given it careful consideration, I think I might just be converted (ok, we obviously know I am converted because the last two looks have incorporated it!).

Cute, right? And can still be done in the winter, just throw on tights, then the tall socks, and then some boots. Pair this look with a dress to give a casual, but classy, look. Make sure the dress is long enough of course, and then don't let the sock come above the knees, like in the second picture. 

Another idea, throw on some leggings/jeggings, some tall socks, and boots. Maybe put this look together with a cute sweater for winter time. When it gets into spring time, try a loose fitting, "just woke up" kind of shirt with this look.

Honestly, if I had the option, I would have worn this outfit with stockings that went all the way past my knees, and bunched right above the knee. Also, I LOVE the ruffle stockings in the slide below. Yeah, pretty much they are on my wish list :)

Back to Basics

Every once in a while (ok, more often than not) I just think that I want to be comfy. Cute, but comfy. It is usually when this happens that I decide to raid Matt's closet because his clothes fit just a little big and for some reason comfy equals baggy in my world.

So today I found Matt's baseball tee and wanted to wear it and had to ask him if I could. I felt like I was back with my sisters asking if we could wear each other's clothes. He even asked the typical question I would have asked my sis when she came to me, "well, what shirt?". Haha, after he saw me in it he approved, and so I threw on my skinnies, some tall socks and boots and went out the door to go see Tangled with my girl Shawna.

Basically I love that movie now, and it is definitely one to own. I even think Matti might like it because it was so funny. If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest a movie night, even if it is with just your girls.

Here's the line-up (get it, it is a baseball tee...line-up...ok, so I think I am funny). Tee: Aeropostale, Pants: Walmart, Socks: Target, Boots: Walmart.

I want to give a big shout out for skinnies because they are my go-to when I want to wear one of Matt's shirts. Anyone can pull it off as long at the tee is not too small, or too big. Just slightly baggy. Even if you are pear-shaped, the baggy shirt will hide your luscious hips and make your legs look tiny. So try it out, and it is great because you get to wear new clothes, even if they are your husbands :)

{My Man Mondays} The Man Scarf

Yes, most people are showing off their spring line already, but lets be honest here, it is still FREEZING. This is why, I am still sticking with winter fashions on this My Man Monday.

The man scarf is somewhat feared by men. But men, this is the time to embrace it. It is warm, cozy, and sexy. Not to mention, you don't have to change your style at all. Just throw on your tee and then the scarf over. Or, if you listened to last week and got a "Manigan" then you can throw THAT over a tee and then your scarf.

Oh the possibilities! Here are some guys who strut the scarf very well:

Yes, Jake is in a somewhat metro pose right here, but trust me, the ladies like the man scarf. We wear our heels for you, do our makeup everyday (mmmm, ok slight exaggeration for some, like me), and wear our "girlie" clothes. So do us a favor and just try it out, I think you will be pleased with the results.

It's The Little Things

I had been moaning and groaning about how hard the last couple of days has been, between having to carry everything in the airport, including Link because he can't carry over 25 lbs since his appendectomy to feeling sorry for myself because of all the people that they wanted to check at the airport, they chose MY bag while I was juggling everything (and was the bag that took me an hour to pack in order to puzzle piece everything in). In the middle of still feeling sorry for myself, I jumped in the shower after church and realized how grateful I am for the little things. Like warm water, so I can just wash away all the stress from the last couple of days. Or my beautiful son, who has developed quite an attitude, but had plumber's crack today and thought it was hilarious. Or how he was shaking his groove thing yesterday while we all played the Kinect dance game at my friends. Or that same wonderful friend who sensed my stress from a mile away and so fed us last night, and is now feeding us again today so that we don't have to stress about no food in the house after vacation.

Yeah, I have lots to be grateful for, sometimes it just takes a little break away from the chaos to put things in perspective :)

Also, I am grateful for a husband who recognized how hard it was through the airport and has told me over and over how awesome I am that I could do that, and who unpacked almost everything while I was at church with the little man. I would say I am pretty blessed, so thanks warm shower for reminding me of all that I should be grateful for :)

Relaxing Day Failed

Well, I tried. Turns out having to pack and get everything ready to leave with my poor bed-ridden husband, doesn't leave a lot of time to relax and read my book. O'well. I bet I have loads of time when I get home :)

Now don't mind the squinty eyes, and weird faces. Not to easy taking pictures staring at the sun. I am seeing little spots (ok, not really).
